The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the online application process for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 examination. Interested candidates can apply from October 7 to November 5 through the official CSIR UGC NET website at csirnet.nta.nic.in.
The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. It will determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor and PhD admission, as well as PhD admission only in Indian universities and colleges.
CSIR UGC NET December 2026 Exam Date
The examination will be held on December 19, 22 and 27, 2026. The test will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift will be held from 9 am to noon, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm. The exam will be three hours long.
The examination city and admit card release dates will be announced later by the NTA.

Candidates can submit their applications until November 5, 2026, up to 11:50 pm. The application fee can also be paid until the same deadline.
Those who miss the deadline can apply with a late fee of Rs 500 from November 6 to November 9. The last date for payment of the fee with the late charge is November 9, up to 11:50 pm.
The correction window will be open from November 10 to November 12, up to 11:50 pm.
“Candidates who desire to apply for the exam may go through the Information Bulletin and apply online at https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/during the period from 07th October 2026 to 05th November 2026 and also pay the applicable fee online through the payment gateway using Debit/Credit Cards, Net Banking, UPI payment mode till 09th November 2026 (upto 11:50 P.M.) with late fee of Rs.500/-,” states the official notice.

CSIR UGC NET December 2026 Subjects
The exam will be conducted for five subjects including Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. The question paper will be available in both English and Hindi.
Candidates should check the official information bulletin for eligibility criteria, examination pattern, subject codes, fees and other application details before submitting the form.
