Star Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has said that he was heartbroken when Manchester United couldn’t win the derby against City, adding that he was disappointed to see them lose despite City being down to 10 men.
With City reduced to 10 men after Phil Foden was sent off for kicking Bruno Fernandes, Haaland put them ahead on the hour mark with a close-range finish from Josko Gvardiol’s cross.
The goal was ruled out for offside, but VAR overturned the decision despite City midfielder Enzo Fernandez being in an offside position and attempting to reach the ball before Haaland.
“I watched the Manchester Derby recently. When City went down to 10 men, I really felt United would find a way to get the result and there were moments when it looked like we could take the game,” Chahal said while speaking to JioStar.
“To then see Haaland score and the goal go through that whole VAR drama was painful as a United fan! But that is football; sometimes you get the result you want and sometimes you don’t,” Chahal added.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s annual net loss rose by almost a third to £43 million despite reporting record revenues last month.
The Red Devils reported £677.6 million in revenue in the year to June 30, up 1.7%.
But the club recorded a seventh successive annual loss after tax, with co-owner Jim Ratcliffe’s cuts to operating costs offset by contractual payments to sacked manager Ruben Amorim and a significant increase in loan repayments.

The increase in revenue was driven by higher broadcasting income, boosted by their third-place Premier League finish, a significant improvement from 15th the previous season.
