Liv Morgan Opens Up About Financial Struggles During Her Debut Year | WWE

Liv Morgan has become one of the most well-known female stars in WWE. Her journey to the top was not always easy. She faced her fair share of hardships before establishing herself as a star in professional wrestling. In her early days, she adapted to a demanding new schedule of practice and training while focusing on her goals. In an interview, Morgan has shared glimpses into the early period of her career and the difficulties she experienced while trying to make a name for herself in WWE. 

Liv Morgan On Being Broke In Her WWE First Year

Liv Morgan recently opened up about the financial struggles she faced during her first year in WWE NXT during a podcast in October 2026. During the podcast, Morgan revealed that she sometimes had only about $6 left after covering rent, transportation, and wrestling gear.

Morgan also said that she was making more money while working at Hooters than she initially did with WWE. Despite the pay difference, she said she would have accepted the WWE opportunity even without being paid because becoming a wrestler had been her dream.

Her early WWE years began after she started training at the WWE Performance Center in October 2014, following her discovery through Joe DeFranco’s gym. She made her NXT in-ring debut in 2015. She has been part of WWE since 2014, making her a part of WWE for over a decade. 

Looking back, Morgan’s story highlights the financial sacrifices she made while trying to prove herself in professional wrestling. Her experience also reflects how different her circumstances were before becoming one of WWE’s established stars.

How Liv Morgan Became a WWE Superstar

Liv Morgan joined WWE’s Performance Center in 2014 after being discovered through trainer Joe DeFranco. She developed her skills in NXT before making her main-roster debut in 2017 as part of The Riott Squad.

Her breakthrough came in 2022, when she won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match and cashed in that same night to defeat Ronda Rousey for her first women’s world title.
