Ingredients
- Wheat flour : Use good quality whole wheat flour for the dough. It gives the roti its structure and helps keep it soft.
- Wheat bran : Use fresh, fine wheat bran for the best texture. It adds a slight nutty taste and extra fibre to the roti.
- Salt : Salt added to season the roti.
- Warm water : Warm water added to knead the dough. This helps make a soft and pliable dough that is easy to roll.
- Oil or ghee : You can use either oil or ghee to cook the roti. Using ghee makes the roti more flavourful and adds softness.

Expert Tips
- Make sure to use warm water to knead the dough. Add little by little so you get a soft, smooth dough.
- Don’t make the dough too stiff, as the bran can make the roti feel dry.
- Let the dough rest for 15 minutes before rolling. This gives the bran time to absorb the water and makes the dough easier to handle.
- Roll the rotis evenly without making them too thin or too thick.
Storage and Serving
Wheat bran roti is best served fresh and warm. If you have leftovers, keep them covered in a clean container or wrap them in aluminium foil so they don’t dry out.
Serve wheat bran roti hot with vegetable kurma, chicken gravy, dal, paneer butter masala or any gravy if you like. It also tastes good with curd, pickle or a spoon of butter on the side.
