Cotton yarn prices remained stable in south India’s Mumbai and Tiruppur markets following earlier gains, despite mixed sentiment. Mumbai faced weak demand and payment constraints, while Tiruppur remained positive amid firm cotton prices and export demand. Meanwhile, Gujarat cotton prices held steady as mills slowed purchases ahead of increased arrivals.
Cotton yarn prices steadied after earlier gains in the Mumbai market. Most counts and varieties were traded at their previous levels. Market sentiment remained weak because of payment constraints and slow demand for fabric. A trader from the Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Spinning mills are looking to raise cotton yarn prices, but demand from the downstream industry was not supportive. Garment units were not agreeing to pay higher prices. Dyeing and finishing also pushed up fabric prices.”
