Kalakand Sweet Recipe is a popular sweet originated in Alwar, Rajasthan. This sweet is made purely with milk and milk based ingredients. Making halwai style traditional kalakand requires time and patience, but this version which I have shared here is instant and can be made in less than 20 minutes and just 6 ingredients used with store bough paneer, sweetened condensed milk and milk powder.

Instant Kalakand

I used store bought paneer and few other ingredients to make this kalakand half the time and quarter the efforts. So put this dish in your Diwali menu and you will be happy that you did.
About Instant Kalakand (Quick Kalakand)
First of all what is a kalakand and what about its texture. Kalakand is a pure milk based sweet like a burfi. It has grainy, milky and moist texture similar to my milk cake. This sweet is made with paneer which is cooked with, milk and sugar to make thick grainy, soft burfi.
Making kalakand from scratch requires few steps which can be time consuming. So I developed this recipe which is super easy to make and can be made in less than 20 minutes and with just 6 ingredients.
I took few easy steps like using store bought paneer instead of making it at time. Also i added condensed milk, milk powder so the mixture thickens faster. These steps may seem extra for many, but it actually makes the perfect Halwai style kalakand at home in quarter the time.
I used my blender to puree paneer, before mixing with other ingredients in a bowl. This mixing helps evenly distribute the ingredients without making the mixture too runny. Once it is combined, you transfer this to a nonstick pan and cook on low heat until it comes together. Thats it.

Ingredients
- Paneer – I used store bought paneer. You can use homemade paneer if you have the time to make it.
- Sweetened condensed milk – this helps with the milky texture and adds sweetness and richness to kalakand.
- Sugar – a small amount of sugar is used to get the perfect sweet taste.
- Milk powder – you need to use milk powder, for the perfect thick texture.
- Ghee – you don’t need too much ghee, a little is added for aroma.
- Cardamom – I used ground cardamom, you can use saffron also.
