North India’s cotton yarn market stable, liquidity remains tight

North India’s cotton yarn markets remained stable amid weak demand and payment constraints. Buying was subdued in Ludhiana and Delhi, although traders expected liquidity to improve after Diwali. Panipat’s recycled yarn market remained sluggish due to excess stocks and weak export demand. Meanwhile, cotton prices held steady despite bearish ICE trends, as mills delayed bulk purchases anticipating a correction. Moderate arrivals and concerns over lower regional production also weighed on sentiment.

In Ludhiana, cotton yarn prices did not register significant movement as the market continued to face payment constraints. However, payment conditions are expected to ease after Diwali. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “The Diwali festival will end with good sales of finished products like garments and home textiles. The retail segment and downstream industry will turn to restocking goods. This will improve cash flow in the spinning mill sector.”

In Ludhiana, ** count combed cotton yarn was quoted at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, inclusive of GST.
