With less than a week to go for its release, the conversations around Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana refuse to die down as the hype is at an all-time high. As of Friday at 2 PM, Ramayana has sold 1,50,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – and the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-led saga is now looking to gain momentum leading to the release.

At this moment, Ramayana is trailing Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 by a substantial margin in India, but it won’t take long for things to turn in its favour. A start in the north of Animal and Toxic is assured, but the targets are big, as the makers would be wanting Ramayana to take the #1 opening of all time in Hindi, surpassing Dhurandhar 2 and Pushpa 2.
The present advance sales cycle is suggesting a start of Rs. 65 crores, which is huge for the Pre-Diwali period, but the momentum shift needs to happen over the next 3 days for us to say this figure with certainty. Ramayana is tracking to hit the 5 lakh pre-sales in the national multiplex chains, which places it in the top 5 of all time.
More shows are expected to open from today onwards in the non-national chains, and that will give an idea of where the film is headed, as the Pre-Diwali factor will come into play at some point in time.
