Actor Mihir Ahuja has been recently seen in projects with varied subjects. From the intensity of the military drama Operation Safed Sagar to the warmth of Netflix’s upcoming family drama Dilwali Diwali and the quirky storytelling of an Ujjain-set dramedy, Mihir is steadily exploring the many possibilities of his craft.
Mihir Ahuja on exploring a different side in Dilwali Diwali, “There is something incredibly beautiful about stories that remind us that home is not just a place”
With Dilwali Diwali, Mihir steps into the lead role in a family drama centred on a Punjabi family and the emotional ties that bind its members together. At its heart, the story explores a simple yet deeply relatable thought: home is where the heart is. Through family relationships, shared traditions and the complexities of belonging, the film looks at what makes a house a home and why the people around us often matter more than anything else.
Speaking about the film and the emotional core of his character, Mihir Ahuja says, “What drew me to Dilwali Diwali was the emotional heart of the story. It revolves around a Punjabi family, and I think there is something incredibly beautiful about stories that remind us that home is not just a place; it is the people who make us feel that we belong. Playing the lead in a family drama like this gives me the opportunity to explore emotions that are intimate, relatable and universal. No matter where we come from, the idea of finding comfort, love and a sense of belonging is something we can all connect with.”
He also added, “I feel like I’m slowly piecing together my journey with every choice I make. At this stage of my career, I may not have all the answers, but I know that every character I take on and every story I become a part of teaches me something about myself. I want to look back someday and feel that I didn’t take the easy route, that I allowed myself to explore, make mistakes, learn and grow. For me, building a career isn’t about reaching a destination overnight; it’s about being honest with every step I take and trusting that, over time, these choices will lead me towards the actor I want to become.”
The contrast between Operation Safed Sagar and Dilwali Diwali highlights Mihir’s willingness to move between different emotional registers. While a military drama demands an understanding of discipline, pressure and the weight of extraordinary circumstances, a family drama calls for a different kind of sensitivity, finding meaning in everyday interactions, unspoken emotions and the dynamics between loved ones.
