Harry Kane has committed his long-term future to Bayern Munich, signing a two-year contract extension that will keep the England captain at the German champions until 2029. The club confirmed the agreement on Thursday, with the Ballon d’Or winner expressing his happiness at continuing his career in Munich.
The 33-year-old striker arrived at Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the club’s most prolific players, scoring 156 goals in 161 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Kane made clear that staying at Bayern was an easy decision.
“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” Kane said in a statement.
“It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future.”

Kane’s move to Germany has brought the silverware that eluded him during more than 10 years at boyhood club Tottenham. Since joining Bayern, he has lifted two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup. However, the Champions League remains an outstanding ambition, with Bayern reaching the semi-finals twice in three campaigns.
The forward also enjoyed a landmark personal achievement last month when he was named men’s player of the year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.
Kane became the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to receive the honour and the first Bayern Munich player since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981. He finished ahead of France captain Kylian Mbappe, who claimed second place.
His impact in German football has also been reflected in the record books. In September, Kane became the fastest player in German history to score 100 Bundesliga goals, reaching the milestone in just 98 matches. He surpassed the previous record held by Dieter Mueller, set in 1977, by an impressive 31 games.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund welcomed the contract agreement, describing the club as “absolutely delighted” to secure Kane’s future.
“With Harry Kane we have the Ballon d’Or winner on the pitch — a team player, a leader, the best all-round striker in the world,” Freund said.
“We all benefit from his qualities as a player and as a person, day in, day out.”
According to German media, Bayern and Kane had been discussing a new agreement since August, with the length of the extension emerging as the principal point of disagreement.
Premier League return no longer a priority
Despite the possibility of Premier League clubs attempting to bring Kane back to England, his future in Munich has appeared increasingly settled. The striker has regularly spoken about his positive relationship with the club, its supporters and the city.
Last season, Kane indicated that discussions over his contract would take place after the World Cup, where England were eliminated by Argentina in the semi-finals.
His thinking about a potential return to English football had already begun to change. In an August interview with FourFourTwo magazine, Kane admitted that the desire to play in the Premier League again was no longer as strong as it once was.
“When I first left, for sure it was something that I thought I’d definitely be coming back. That itch isn’t there as much anymore.
“I’m extremely happy here in Munich. It’s opened my eyes to a totally different world of football outside of England. It’s made me appreciate European football even more.
“With the team we have here, with the manager. My family are really settled here. It’s just about being in the best place possible.
“I never say never but, for now, I’m concentrating on Bayern Munich, and we’ll see what the future holds.”
Kane’s performances last season provided further evidence of his remarkable consistency. He scored 61 goals for Bayern and added 12 for England, taking his overall tally to 73. Only Lionel Messi, who registered 82 goals during his Ballon d’Or-winning 2011-12 campaign, has produced a higher total in a single season this century.
The England captain also acknowledged the contribution of his Bayern team-mates during his Ballon d’Or acceptance speech, emphasising that the individual recognition was the result of collective effort.
“Without you guys (his Bayern Munich team-mates) and the rest of the team it wouldn’t be possible, the way you guys push me, the way we compete. So thank you very much,” he said after collecting the award.
Bayern finished last season with the Bundesliga and German Cup double, while also coming close to reaching the Champions League final. They pushed eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in an intense semi-final, but the French side progressed with a 6-5 aggregate victory across the two legs.
The Bavarian club have continued their strong form this season. Bayern are currently the only unbeaten side among Europe’s top five leagues, sitting at the summit of the Bundesliga ahead of Borussia Dortmund on goal difference.
In the Champions League, however, they occupy 13th position in the league-phase standings after completing four of their eight matches.
