Matt Fisher replaced Blair Tickner as New Zealand’s concussion substitute during the second ODI against India at the Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Saturday. Tailender Tickner was struck by a bouncer from Anshul Kamboj in the 41st over before being dismissed for two later in the same over. The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) medical team came onto the field to assess Tickner for a potential concussion, resulting in a brief delay in play. Although he initially decided to continue batting, with New Zealand already nine wickets down, Tickner was eventually cleaned up by Kamboj with a yorker later in the over.
Following a delayed start to India’s innings, NZC confirmed that Tickner had been ruled out of the remainder of the match due to concussion protocols, with Fisher named as his replacement.
“Blair Tickner will play no further part in the second ODI against India after being struck on the helmet while batting. Tickner is currently being monitored by medical staff and Matthew Fisher comes into the Matchday XI as a concussion substitute,” NZC said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell made a half century and shared a 59-run partnership with Mitchell Santner in an act of resistance before New Zealand was dismissed for 134 in 41 overs.
Mitchell was out for 55 and Santner for 31 as New Zealand again failed to produce a challenging total against a concerted India attack. Henry Nicholls (11) was the only other New Zealand batter apart from Santner and Mitchell to reach double figures.
Gurnoor Brar produced difficult bounce and took 4-30 from 10 overs while Auqib Nabi struck twice early and finished with 2-31. Anshul Kamboj and spinner Axar Patel, bowling through the middle of the innings, took two wickets each.
