The entrance exam for admission to the DM and MCh (three-year) programmes is conducted at AIIMS New Delhi, other AIIMS institutes, PGIMER Chandigarh, NIMHANS Bengaluru, JIPMER Puducherry, and SCTIMST Thiruvananthapuram.
In the Stage 1 exam pattern for all participating institutes, there are 80 objective-type questions, each carrying one mark, with negative marking applicable. The exam duration is 90 minutes. To qualify for Stage 1, candidates must score 50 per cent.
Those who have now cleared Stage 1 will move on to Stage 2 which is worth 20 marks. Applicants aiming for AIIMS seats need to achieve a combined score of 50 per cent across both stages. If a candidate scores more than 50 per cent in Stage 1 but does not meet the overall combined score requirement, they will not qualify for the AIIMS seat.
