AIIMS NORCET: The decision has been taken due to the pending distribution of reserved seats across different categories in some Institutes, the institute stated.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi has cancelled the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET 09) provisional seat allocation result that was announced on November 3, 2025. This decision was made due to the pending distribution of reserved seats across various categories in some Institutes. AIIMS has announced that a revised seat allocation result will be published soon.
“The result of the provisional seat allocation for NORCET-09, published vide Notice No. 241/2025 dated 03.11.2025, stands withdrawn in view of the pending updated distribution of reserved seats across different categories in some Institutes. The revised allocation result will be published within a week. Accordingly, the exercise of acceptance also stands withdrawn. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” reads the official notice.
In the final results released in October, a total of 13,996 candidates qualified in the mains exam, including 4,253 male candidates and 9,743 female candidates. The AIIMS NORCET 9 stage 2 exam was held on September 27, 2025 and the result was issued on October 3. The stage 1 exam took place on September 14 and results were out on September 18.
The exam is held for recruitment to the post of Nursing Officer for all AIIMS, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, (JIPMER) Puducherry and Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), New Delhi, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, (RIMS) Imphal, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) New Delhi, All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, (AIIPMR), Mumbai and Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi.
Upon selection for any advertised post, the place of posting will be determined by the respective AIIMS according to the applicable rules, states the official notice. Candidates who pass the NORCET can be promoted from Grade-II to Grade-I and can advance to roles such as Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, Nursing Superintendent, and ultimately Chief Nursing Officer.
