Andhra Pradesh will implement half-day schools starting March 16 due to intense heat. Parents should plan accordingly as the weather has changed since Shivaratri, with fewer clouds and strong sunlight. The closer proximity of the earth to the sun increases the sun’s intensity, posing a risk to students’ eyes. To safeguard students’ health, the education department has mandated half-day schools for all government and private institutions statewide.
The new schedule will see schools operating from 8 am to 12:30 pm, with lunch provided before students go home. For schools with class 10 examination centres, classes will be held from 1 pm to 5 pm. Parents are advised to communicate with teachers for detailed information about classes and grades.
Meanwhile, the class 10 (SSC) exams are scheduled from March 16 to April 1, from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm daily. Approximately 6.5 lakh students across the state are expected to appear for the class 10 exam. The exams will be conducted daily from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm. The complete timetable is available for download on the official website at bse.ap.gov.in.
AP Class 10 exam schedule:
March 16 – First language
March 18 – Second language
March 20 – English
March 23 – Mathematics
March 25 – Physics
March 28 – Biology
March 30 – Social Studies
March 31 – First Language Paper-2
April 1 – OSSC Second Language Paper-2
Candidates must score at least 33 per cent to pass the exams. Students will receive both their AP SSC marks and grades. An A1 grade is awarded for scores of 91 and above, while an A2 is given for scores between 81 and 90. Those scoring between 71 and 80 will receive a B1 grade, and scores between 61 and 70 will be awarded a C grade.
While global temperatures are high, which may lead to an early rainy season, the sun’s intensity should not be underestimated. Parents should ensure their children frequently drink fresh water and fruit juices to stay energetic and perform well in their studies. Adjustments to daily plans should be made according to the new timings from March 16.
