Ashoka University has opened applications for the 16th Young India Fellowship. Selected candidates will receive scholarships, with Round 1 applications open till January 19, 2026.

Ashoka University has begun accepting applications for the 16th cohort of the Young India Fellowship (YIF), its one-year postgraduate programme that marks 15 years this cycle. For the upcoming Class of 2026–27, all selected candidates will receive scholarships supported by HDFC Bank. About 100 Fellows will be chosen through a rigorous selection process.
Eligibility And Scholarships
The programme is open to applicants of all ages and nationalities. Anyone with a recognised undergraduate degree by July 2026, including current final-year students, can apply. There is no age limit.
YIF offers scholarships ranging from 25 percent to 100 percent, covering tuition, accommodation and meals. Some students may also receive additional financial support. Around 10 outstanding candidates will be awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which covers the full tuition and residence fee.
Programme Features
Started in 2011, the YIF is known for its interdisciplinary curriculum focused on leadership, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving. From this year, Fellows will earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Fellows take around 18 courses across various subjects, work on a real-world project and learn from experienced faculty, visiting experts and alumni.
In the current cohort (2025–26), 59 percent of students received full tuition waivers or more, 32 percent were fully funded including residence and meals, and 17 students were awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Additionally, 35 percent of the class are first-generation college students and 59 percent are women.

Application Details
Applications are free of cost. Candidates will be shortlisted based on a holistic evaluation followed by an online interview.
Round 1 applications are open until January 19, 2026, with a priority deadline of December 8, 2025. Applications submitted by the priority deadline will be reviewed earlier for interviews.
