Top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz has been placed in the same group as Novak Djokovic for the ATP Finals, while defending champion Jannik Sinner will face Alexander Zverev.
The Jimmy Connors group includes Alcaraz, Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur. The Bjorn Borg group features Sinner, Zverev, Ben Shelton, and either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Lorenzo Musetti, who are competing for the final spot.
Auger-Aliassime currently holds the eighth and final qualifying position, but Musetti can surpass him by winning a tournament in Athens this week.
Djokovic’s participation is uncertain, as he is also competing in Athens. The seven-time champion, who missed last year’s finals, has stated he will decide his involvement after the tournament in Athens.
The finals begin on Sunday with round-robin matches. The top two players from each group will advance to the semifinals.
The final is scheduled for November 16.
Alcaraz will be competing in the finals for the third time; his best result was reaching the semifinals in 2023.
Alcaraz and Sinner are still in contention for the year-end No. 1 ranking, which will be determined by their performances in the finals.
Zverev won the finals in 2018 and 2021, while Fritz lost in last year’s final to Sinner.
De Minaur is making his second consecutive appearance, and Shelton is making his debut.
