Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich announced the signing of Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Premier League side Liverpool on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Diaz joins the German champions in a transfer valued at around the 75 million euros mark, including add-ons, following his trophy-lade stint with the Merseyside club.

“It means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern,” Diaz said following the switch.

“They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character,” the winger added.

“My goal is to win every possible title, and that’s what we’ll work for every day as a team,” Diaz added.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was full of praise fo the Colombian as he stated, “In Luis Diaz, we have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League.”

“He brings real player character from Liverpool to FC Bayern — he’s won silverware with every one of his clubs to date,” Dreesen added.

The Colombian’s move to the Bavarian giants could facilitate Liverpool’s acquisition of Swedish star Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The Swedish international has reportedly informed Newcastle of his desire to explore a transfer after missing the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to injury.

Reports indicate that Isak has prioritized Liverpool and has no interest in joining clubs like Al Hilal, Chelsea, or Manchester United. This has fueled speculation that the 24-year-old could be seeking a move to Anfield.

Liverpool initially proposed a deal worth between £120 million and £130 million, according to reports. However, Newcastle are believed to value Isak at around £150 million, meaning Liverpool would need to pay a record fee to secure his signature.

Liverpool have already spent close to £300 million this summer, signing Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi, and Hugo Ekitike. The club is focusing on strengthening its attack and midfield to defend their Premier League title.
