BMW iX1 LWB or Kia EV6 with discounts: which premium EV to buy?

The BMW has the badge value, but the EV6 offers better range and performance.

I had finalized the BMW iX1, but then I read your comparison in the magazine, where you ranked the BYD Sealion 7 higher. Now, to complicate things further, the Kia dealer has reached out with an offer for the 2025 EV6, which is much more expensive, at a price similar to the other two. I’m genuinely confused now. Given this new development, which one should I go for?

Autocar India says: If you’ve always coveted the BMW badge, the iX1 is a well-priced, well-rounded EV. While its performance isn’t the strongest, it offers a compelling mix of brand prestige, ride comfort, and handling finesse that arguably outshines the other options on your list.

The BYD Sealion 7 is another excellent choice. It’s significantly larger than the BMW, giving it strong road presence. As BYD’s flagship SUV, it feels premium, with plush seating and a high level of comfort. The AWD Performance variant is quick but not very efficient—if long-distance travel is a priority, the RWD Premium version is a better bet for range.

However, if you’re getting a great deal on the Kia EV6, it’s hard to ignore. With a spacious cabin, a rich feature set, and a more refined user experience, it stands out. Acceleration is brisk, and in our tests, it managed nearly 500 km in a mixed city-highway cycle—better than the others here. The only real downside is the rear seat comfort, which isn’t on par with the rest. But if that’s not a deal-breaker, the EV6 should be your pick.
