What is the battery size of the BYD Sealion 7?

82.56kWh battery capacity

The BYD Sealion 7 comes with a single 82.56kWh battery pack. Sealion 7’s similarly priced rivals such as the BMW iX1 LWB, Mercedes EQA, Volvo C40 Recharge and Kia EV6 have battery packs  ranging from 66.4kWh to 84kWh. The EV6 SUV has the largest battery among these, followed by the Sealion 7. The 82.56kWh BYD Blade battery of the Sealion 7 can be charged at speeds of up to 150kW with a DC fast charger, taking 45 minutes for a 10-80 percent charge. Speeds of up to 11kW are supported with an AC fast charger, which takes 11 hours to charge the battery from 0 to 100 percent.

Up to 567km range

On the New European Driving Cycle, or NEDC, the Sealion 7 Premium variant returns 567km, and the Performance variant is good for 542km. During our BYD Sealion 7 review under mixed driving conditions, the single-motor Premium variant yielded nearly 500km range. But with the Sealion 7 Performance AWD trim, we got a 370km real-world range. Its efficiency of just 4.54km/kWh is the reason behind that.

How much power and torque does the BYD Sealion 7 offer?

Up to 530hp and 690Nm

The Sealion 7 Premium RWD model makes 310hp and 380Nm, while the Performance AWD variant packs a substantial 530hp and 690Nm; both use an 82.56kWh battery pack. Sealion 7’s all-wheel drive Performance variant, with a dual-motor setup, goes from 0 to 100kph in just 4.5 seconds. The same takes 6.7 seconds in the electric SUV’s rear-wheel drive Premium trim.

The BYD Sealion 7 packs LED headlights, 19-inch (RWD trim) and 20-inch (AWD trim) alloy wheels, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, head-up display, ventilated front seats, 50W wireless charger, panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, NFC card key and air purifier. On the safety front, it gets 11 airbags, 360-degree camera system, ISOFIX seat anchors, hill-hold and ADAS.

Like other BYD electric vehicles, the Sealion 7 is equipped with vehicle-to-load (VTL) technology, which allows charging other devices like speakers, lamps and electric stoves off the EV’s battery.
