The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on February 16 issued an advisory cautioning students, parents and schools against misleading and false information being circulated ahead of the Class 10 and 12 board examinations, which are scheduled to commence from February 17, 2026.

The Board noted that in past years, certain individuals had tried to deceive students and parents by circulating false and misleading content on social media platforms.

This included false claims about question paper leaks and circulation of purported board papers for Classes X and XII.

The board also emphasised that stakeholders should remain vigilant and not engage with unverified news, rumours, or fake content.

It has cautioned that unwarranted panic might occur because of believing, sharing, or forwarding unverified messages. When students must be calm and focused in order to get ready, rumours may as well ruin preparation and cause anxiety.

The board said comprehensive measures are in place to ensure the examinations are conducted smoothly, securely, and fairly, as in previous years. It warned that any attempt to spread false information or disturb the process would invite strict action, and urged students, parents, and schools to depend only on official sources for updates.

CBSE’s advisory comes at a critical moment, just one day before the exams, aiming to help students attend their board examinations calmly and confidently, without being affected by false information circulating online.
