As cricket fans celebrated India’s historic win in the ICC Women’s World Cup final, jubilant scenes unfolded at Mumbai airport, where commuters broke into dance to express their joy.

India clinched their maiden title by defeating South Africa in a thrilling ICC Women’s World Cup final. Batting first, India scored 298 for 7 — the second-highest total in World Cup history — and bowled South Africa out for 246 in 45.3 overs. With this, India joined Australia, England, and New Zealand as the only teams to have won the trophy.

India’s women’s cricket team etched its name in history by emerging as world champion, and fans celebrated the landmark victory across the country. At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, a group of women burst with joy and danced to the beats of drums as a screen played interviews of the cricketers sharing their experience of the match. As the women danced, the crowd captured the moment on their phones, creating an energetic and cheerful atmosphere.

While the social media is abuzz with heartfelt messages for the Women in Blue, celebrations are showing no signs of slowing down and batter Jemimah Rodrigues’s latest Instagram post perfectly captures the moment. Rodrigues took to her official Instagram handle to share some beautiful pictures with the World Cup trophy. “Good morning world,” she wrote, posting a picture with cricketer Smriti Mandhana holding the trophy.

In another post, she shared a picture with Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy, who joined them in flaunting the silverware. “Are we still dreaming?” Rodrigues wrote.

India’s long wait for World Cup glory finally ended in Navi Mumbai, where Harmanpreet Kaur’s determined side lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup trophy for the first time. The victory marked the end of years of heartbreaks and near-misses, leading into a new era for women’s cricket in India.
