CLAT 2026 Provisional Answer Key: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has successfully conducted the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 on December 7. This year, a total of 92,344 candidates applied for the national-level exam, marking a nearly 17 per cent rise in applications compared to last year.
According to the official release, 75,009 students registered for the Undergraduate (UG) programme, while 17,335 applied for the Postgraduate (PG) programme. The exam was held across 156 centres in 93 cities, covering 25 states and 4 Union Territories.
This year’s turnout remained high, with 96.83 per cent of UG candidates and 92.45 per cent of PG candidates appearing for the exam. The CLAT score allows students to seek admission to top National Law Universities (NLUs) in India.
The Consortium has announced that the provisional answer key will be published at 5 PM on Wednesday, December 10. Students will be given a window to verify the answers and raise objections, if needed.
How To Download CLAT 2026 Provisional Answer Key?
Candidates can follow these steps to download the provisional answer key:
Step 1: Sign in to your account at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Step 2: Click on ‘Submit Objections’.
Step 3: Choose your Question Booklet set.
Step 4: Select objection type – answer key or question.
Step 5: Enter question number and justification.
Step 6: Submit and pay Rs 1,000 per objection.
The objection portal will remain open from 5 PM on December 10 to 5 PM on December 12. After that, no challenges will be accepted.
The CLAT UG exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, carrying a total of 120 marks, held for two hours. One mark is awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks are deducted for an incorrect response.

Participating NLUs
Some of the prominent NLUs accepting CLAT scores include: NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLIU Bhopal, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, GNLU Gandhinagar, RGNUL Punjab, NUALS Kochi, NLU Odisha, DSNLU Visakhapatnam, MNLUs and HPNLU Shimla, among others.
A total of 24 NLUs will admit students based on CLAT 2026 scores. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official website for answer keys, objection dates and result announcements.
