The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 registration deadline has been extended. Now, eligible and interested candidates who are yet to apply can do so until November 7. Earlier, the last date to apply was October 31. Students can apply by visiting the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
This exam is essential for admission to the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes at 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating universities. It will be conducted on December 7, 2025, in an offline, written mode.
“The Executive Council of the Consortium of National Law Universities is pleased to announce the extension of the last date for submission of CLAT 2026 online applications (for both U.G. and P.G. programmes). Please note that the new last date for submission of online applications has been extended up to 23:59 hours on 7th November, (Friday) 2025,” reads the official notice.
Candidates will require a recent passport-sized photograph, their signature, category certificate (if applicable), PWD certificate (if applicable), and domicile certificate (if applicable) in order to register.
CLAT 2026: Application Fees
The application fee for General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI candidates is Rs 4000 for and for SC, and ST, it is Rs 3500.
CLAT 2026: Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to apply for the UG programme is that the candidates must have passed the 10+2 (class 12) or the equivalent exam with at least 45 per cent marks (40 per cent for reserved classes).
For the PG programme, candidates must have an LLB degree with at least 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for reserved classes). There is no age limit whatsoever. Those candidates appearing for the qualifying exam in March/April next year are also eligible to apply.
Steps To Register For CLAT 2026
Step 1 – Visit the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Step 2 – Register by providing the necessary details and verify through an OTP.
Step 3 – Complete the registration by uploading the documents required.
Step 4 – Pay the application fee
Step 5 – Submit the form and print the confirmation page.
To pass the UG exam, students must answer 120 questions divided across five sections which include — English language, current affairs and general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques. Students will get two hours to write the test.
