The grandest celebration of India’s entertainment industry, WAVES 2025 – the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit – officially kicked off on Thursday at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) in Mumbai.
The four-day extravaganza will be bringing together the who’s who of Indian cinema.

Aamir Khan, ever the perfectionist, opted for a classic look in a traditional black bandhgala paired with matching pants.

Akshay Kumar, who will also moderate one of the key sessions at WAVES, made a striking appearance in a sharp brown suit, with a white shirt casually unbuttoned at the top, channelling formality with ease.

The most talked-about couple of the evening, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, made a stunning pair. Alia paid homage to tradition in a Paithani sari, draped in the nauvari style with a kashta tuck. Ranbir kept it regal in a mud green bandhgala, perfectly matched with black trousers.
Posting the look on her Instagram, Alia said she chose the look for Maharashtra Day, adding in the caption, “From cinema to gaming, from craft to tech… our stories, our talent, our vision, ready to lead.”

Deepika Padukone, ever graceful, wore a muted gold salwar suit, custom-made by Masaba Gupta, accessorised with a matching potli bag.

The House of Masaba posted DP’s look on Instagram. The handwoven cotton set featured the house’s ‘Paan Phool’ & ‘Son Vriksha’ motif in delicate hand embroidery. The actor was styled by long-time collaborator Shaleena Nathani.
Among other celebrities, Nimrat Kaur looked ethereal in a royal purple sari. Rajinikanth stayed true to his iconic style, wearing a white polo shirt and black pants, which earned him admiring nods for his simplicity.
