Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026-27: The admission process for Sarvodaya Vidyalayas in Delhi is set to begin for the 2026-27 academic session. The Directorate of Education has issued detailed guidelines for nursery, KG, and first-grade admissions. Parents can apply for their children’s admission starting March 2. This admission is exclusively for Delhi residents, with priority given to children living near the school.
Eligiblity Criteria
Only children who are permanent residents of Delhi can apply. Priority will be given to children living within a 1-kilometer radius of the respective Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. If there is no school within this radius, children living within a 3-kilometer radius will be considered. Information on the number of available seats will be displayed outside the school gates to inform parents.
Age Limit
The Directorate has defined age limits for admission — children must be 3 to 4 years old for nursery, 4 to 5 years for KG, and 5 to 6 years for Class 1. In special cases, school principals may relax the age limit by up to 30 days.
Selection Process
Parents can apply between March 2 and March 16. A list of all applications will be posted on the school notice board on March 18, highlighting any deficiencies. The lottery system for selection will take place on March 20 in the presence of the School Management Committee (SMC) and parents. The morning shift lottery will be at 11 AM and the evening shift lottery at 3 PM. The list of selected children will be displayed on March 23.
Application Details
At the time of admission, parents must provide a residence certificate, birth certificate, and, if required, a caste certificate. Application forms can be obtained from the school. Forms will be available from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at morning shift schools and from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM at evening shift schools. A help desk will be set up at the school to assist parents with filling out the forms, with support from teachers and school management committee members.
Admissions for selected students will be completed by April 2. If seats remain vacant, students on the waiting list will be admitted between April 4 and April 7. Thus, the admission process for the new session at Delhi’s Sarvodaya Vidyalayas will be completed as scheduled.
