A teacher at Nagar Nigam School in Shri Ram Colony, northeast Delhi, has been charged for allegedly assaulting a class 1 student, causing internal bleeding in the ear, police reported on Friday. The incident occurred on February 17, but it only came to light after a PCR call was made the following day, as reported by PTI.
The student was taken to JPC Hospital, where internal bleeding in the ear was confirmed, according to the Delhi Police statement.
No external injuries were observed, however. The student’s mother refused to give a statement, citing her husband’s absence as he had travelled to Bihar, police said.
According to the PTI report, the police had kept the matter pending since February 18. But after legal examination, the statement said an offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section and the Juvenile Justice Act was found applicable.
A case has been registered against the teacher and further investigation is underway, it added.
