The double Olympic medallist, Chopra, opened the day with an effort of 88.16m and followed it up with a throw of 85.10m, before logging three consecutive fouls. However, the 27-year-old’s opening attempt was good enough to help him stay atop the table.
Julian Weber of Germany, who had pipped Chopra to the top spot in the two events leading up to the day, couldn’t surpass Chopra’s throw on the day, with his best attempt of 87.88m also coming on his first throw of the day.

Mauricio Luiz da Silva, who registered his best throw of 86.62m in his third effort of the day, finished third. Keshorn Walcott’s top effort of 81.66m in his second throw placed him fourth.
Chopra started the year with a win at the Potch Invitational in South Africa with an effort of 84.52m , but could only manage two back-to-back second placed finishes at Doha, despite his personal best throw of 90.23m, and Janusz Kusocinski memorial, where he registered a 84.14m throw, as he was edged out by German Julian Weber on both occasions.
However, the Indian got his revenge in Paris as he stormed out of the gates strong and rode his opening attempt to clinch the top spot. The win proved to be his first major triumph of the year as he finished ahead of his German rival.
