The carousel begins with a video of Sheeran jamming with Indian musicians, playing the ghatam, a traditional South Indian percussion instrument, while singing his newly released track ‘Sapphire’, which blends Western melodies with Punjabi lyrics. Notably, Indian music icon Arijit Singh assisted him in crafting the Punjabi portions of the song. “These guys were some of the best musicians I’ve ever had the pleasure of recording with,” Sheeran captioned the post.

Another image shows Sheeran sharing a quiet moment with Arijit Singh, enjoying coffee together on a barge, possibly in Kolkata. The camaraderie between the two was evident, hinting at a meaningful musical and personal connection.

Adding more star power to his India trip, Sheeran also posted a video with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, where the duo is seen singing along to ‘Sapphire’ and bobbing their heads in sync. Sheeran captioned the video, “Shah Rukh Khan, love that guy so much.”

One of the more personal elements of the post included a tattoo reveal — Sheeran showed off a new tattoo in Gurmukhi script, which translates to “sapphire,” commemorating both the song and his Indian experience.

In other snippets, Sheeran is seen participating in a flash mob at a local café, visiting the grand sets of Baahubali, and playing music on rooftops in Old Delhi. He wrote, “I watched Baahubali in the cinema and was so flipped out seeing the set,” giving fans a glimpse of his enthusiasm for Indian cinema.

Ending the post with a heartfelt note, Sheeran shared a picture of himself surrounded by musicians, writing, “I love making music in India.”

Sheeran’s visit is part of the build-up to his upcoming 8th studio album, ‘Play.’ The album is said to draw inspiration from cultures across the globe, and his India experience appears to have played a key role. Another song from the album, titled ‘Azizam,’ has already gone viral, with Sheeran posting its looper version recorded on the rooftops of Old Delhi.
