Liverpool boss Arne Slot expressed his delight with the return of star forward Mohamed Salah to the side following Egypt’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations in the semifinals of the continental event.

“I am happy Mo Salah is coming back. Mo has been so important for this club and me,” Slot said.

“I am happy he is back and even if I had 15 attackers, I would be happy to see Mo back but that is not our situation. Happy to have him back after an important game tomorrow,” he added.

Liverpool, who stand fourth in the league with 35 points to their name take on Burnley in their upcoming Premier League encounter on Sunday as thy seek to chomp down on third-placed Aston Villa’s lead.

At the AFCON, Hosts Morocco will take on Senegal, who progressed to the championship clash with their win over Egypt as Sadio Mane netted the lone strike of he game in the 78th minute to take the Teranga Lions to the all-important-clash.

Morocco opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Comoros, before playing out a 1-1 draw against Mali. They closed out the group stage with a 3-0 triumph over Zambia.

The Atlas Lions registered a 1-0 win over Tanzania in the Ro16 clash, before ousting Cameroon in the quarters with a 2-0 win, before their win over Nigeria in the semis.

Senegal registered 3-0 wins over Botswana and Benin, on either side of a 1-1 draw against DR Congo in their group phase before a 3-1 win over Sudan in the Ro16. Senegal edged out Mali 1-0 in the quarters before pipping Egypt in the semifinal to earn their ticket to the final.
