Star Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday got engaged to long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez, after seven years of dating, with the latter revealing the news with a picture of the duo’s hands as she proudly flaunted the engagement ring, which had a massive diamond on it.
While Ronaldo and Georgina didn’t confirm who made the huge bling, experts told Page Six Style that the price tag can fall anywhere between $2 and $5 million.
Laura Taylor, an engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, revealed that the centre stone can weigh 15-20 carats, which would cost more than $2 million.
Taylor heaped praise on Ronaldo’s selection and claimed that it was one of the most brilliant rings they have seen in recent years.
“Oval cuts are known for their brilliant faceting, which maximises sparkle and gives the stone a bright, lively appearance from every angle. The centre stone is flanked by substantial side diamonds, adding even more sparkle and making the already impressive main stone look even larger,” Taylor said, as quoted by Page Six Style.
“This is a show-stopping ring and easily among the most impressive we’ve seen in recent years, which feels perfectly suited to one of football’s most famous couples,” Taylor added.
The CEO of Rare Carat, Ajay Anand, has estimated that Georgina’s ring would be worth $5 million, with the potential to weigh over 30 carats.
Ronaldo met Georgina at a Gucci shop in Madrid nine years ago, when the former was playing in La Liga for Real Madrid and the couple have been together since.
Ronaldo has five children, two of whom he shares with Georgina. Their youngest daughter, Bella, was born in April 2022, alongside a stillborn baby boy.
Georgina, who starred in her own Netflix reality show, I Am Georgina, addressed speculation around her engagement status earlier.
“Since Jennifer Lopez’s song ‘The Ring Or When’ came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me,” Georgina said.
