Ferrari 849 Testarossa powertrain
The 849 Testarossa is powered by a plug-in hybrid setup consisting of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine and three electric motors. Two of the motors are mounted on the front axle, while the other motor is located between the engine and the gearbox. The V8 engine on its own develops 830hp, while the total power output is 1050hp. There’s also a 7.45kWh battery that lets the Testarossa drive on electric power only for up to 25km. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic that sends power to all four wheels. Ferrari claims a top speed of 330kph, 0-100kph and 0-200kph times of 2.25 and 6.3 seconds, respectively, for the 849 Testarossa.
Ferrari 849 Testarossa highlights
The exterior of the 849 Testarossa strikes a fine balance between the past and the present. The front is characterised by L-shaped LED headlamps connected by a black strip, which is reminiscent of older Ferraris. From the side, the roof and A-pillars get a contrast black paint, and there’s a sporty-looking set of alloy wheels. The rear gets a twin-tail design and an active aero panel that adds up to 100kg of downforce, along with higher-mounted dual exhausts.
On the inside, the 849 Testarossa’s cabin is driver-focused, with a large 16-inch digital driver’s display, which also integrates infotainment functions along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A high-set centre console divides the seats, which also houses the gear lever. Furthermore, Ferrari has done away with haptic controls on its steering wheel by bringing back physical knobs. There’s also a 7-speaker audio system, and the passenger gets a slim 9-inch display as well. Customers can expect a range of personalisation options for the exterior and interior.
