The Rajasthan government and the state Board of Secondary Education or RBSE are gearing up for changes in school education as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Starting from the 2026-27 academic year, the Rajasthan Board 10th exams might be held twice a year. This initiative aims to reduce students’ mental stress and offer an additional chance to improve their scores.

At present, if a student fails or scores low in the Rajasthan Board class 10, they must wait a full year or take a supplementary exam. The new system will allow students to take the exam based on their preparation, thereby reducing the dropout rate and enhancing learning. This system is already in place for CBSE 10th examinations from 2026. Updates on the Rajasthan Board examination can be checked at rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

New Exam Structure

Aligning with the central government’s new education policy, the Rajasthan Board is considering a semester system or a biannual exam model. This plan, to be implemented by 2027, aims to alleviate the fear of board exams for 10th-grade students. This change may mirror the CBSE’s current model, where students can select their best score.

The primary benefit of having exams twice a year is the reduced burden on students to memorise the entire syllabus at once. If a student doesn’t get the desired marks in the first attempt, they can improve their results in the second attempt. This will lessen the pressure of high-stakes exams and boost students’ confidence.

When Will Rajasthan Board 10th Exam Be Held In 2027?

According to media reports, the Rajasthan Board 10th class exams might be conducted around December-January, with the second exam in March-April. However, the final decision on the exam calendar will be made by a high-level committee of the board. It will also be ensured that this new schedule does not adversely affect college admissions or the timing of progression to the next class.

Conducting exams twice a year presents an administrative challenge for the Rajasthan Board. This will involve creating more question papers, managing exam centres, and expediting the evaluation process. The Rajasthan Education Department has already started discussions on resource assessment and teacher training to ensure the system is fully prepared by 2027.
