Honda Activa e: gains more affordable Lite battery subscription plan

Honda launched the Activa e: in India back in January at the Auto Expo and this was the first scooter in India to offer you swappable batteries. The company sells the Activa e: on a Battery as a Subscription plan and now Honda has released a new, more affordable ‘Lite’ plan which is tailored specifically for users with a lower daily usage.

  1. Honda Activa e Lite plan gives the user 20kWh, costs Rs 678/month
  2. Has a 3kWh battery capacity and claimed 102km IDC range
  3. Available in two variants – Rs 1.17 lakh and Rs 1.52 lakh

Honda Activa e Lite battery subscription plan explained

Lite subscription plan gives you nearly 25km a day

At the first ride event of the Activa e: one of the areas where we felt the scooter came up short was in its high running costs (for an EV) which were comparable to that of a 125cc ICE scooter. In a bid to combat that, Honda has released this new Lite subscription plan which is priced at Rs 678 per month, wherein the user gets 20kWh of energy.

The Activa e: continues to be available with the original subscription plans, which are priced at Rs 1,999 (Basic) and Rs 3,999 (Advanced), which give you 35kWh and 87kWh of energy, respectively. At the ride event, Honda claimed that with the Basic plan’s 35kWh of energy, a user could cover a maximum of 40km per day. Doing some mental math reveals that with the Lite plan, an Activa e: owner can cover nearly 23km a day.

One point that bears mentioning is that Honda bills you on the total amount of energy used in a month, so even if you exceed the daily limit on any given day but for the next few days manage to stay under it, the excess of the previous day will be adjusted against the lower consumption of the next few days.

This Lite plan is sure to come as welcome news to owners of the Activa e: who only use it for shorter distances every day and it could also help boost the rather modest sales that the electric Activa has managed since its launch.

Honda Activa e price and range

The Activa e: is available in two variants – standard (Rs 1.17 lakh) and RoadSync Duo (Rs 1.52 lakh) – and the only difference between the two is that the latter comes with a huge 7-inch TFT display and an additional joystick to control all its functions. Both are powered by the same twin 1.5kWh battery packs and have an identical 102km claimed IDC range.

Additionally, Honda has also opened an EV Concept Zone in Bengaluru, where the Activa e:, QC1, Honda’s Electric Racing Go-Kart (eGX) and the cute little Moto Compacto are on display along with a demonstrative battery-swapping station.
