The Indian men’s football team is set to take part in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, scheduled to be held from August 29 to September 8. The tournament will be co-hosted by Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, with India drafted into Group B.
All of India’s matches will be held in Hisor, near Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The Blue Tigers enter the event during a turbulent phase. In 2025, the team has managed just one win and is aiming for a fresh start under new head coach Khalid Jamil.
“It is a big challenge for me. I have got what I wanted. For me now the task is to deliver,” Jamil said in Bengaluru.
India’s campaign begins on August 29 against hosts Tajikistan, followed by a clash with Iran on September 1 and Afghanistan on September 4.
The top two sides from each group will progress to the play-offs. On September 8, the runners-up will battle for third place in Dushanbe, while the group winners meet in the final in Tashkent.
CAFA consists of six members – Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan – with India and Oman invited for this edition.
