Indian badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were shown the exit door at the Japan Open on Thursday in the second round by the Chinese duo of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang.
Rankireddy and Shetty succumbed 22-24, 14-21 to Keng and Chang, in a fixture that lasted just under 45 minutes, as the Chinese pair extended their all-time record against India’s top-ranked pair to 7-2.
Lakshya Sen was also ousted from the men’s singles event following his 19-21, 11-21 loss to Kodai Naraoka of Japan.

After a sluggish start, Satwik and Chirag found their rhythm and led 18-14 in the first game, but couldn’t maintain their momentum as the Chinese fought back to claim a thrilling opener.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with the world number six pair continuing their dominance. The Indians struggled both in attack and defence, resulting in their fourth consecutive defeat against Wei Keng and Wang Chang.
