Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has defended the State Government’s plans to set up a special security force to curb communal violence in the coastal districts.
“I think we need a special security force to curb anti- social elements. We need specially trained officials to detect communal forces and curb their activities. We are thinking about it and are yet to hold detailed discussions with the Home Minister, and other senior Ministers and senior officials. A decision will be taken later,” he said. He was speaking to reporters in Akki Alur in Haveri district on Sunday (May 4, 2025).

He did not comment on the police claims that the compensation money of ₹25 lakh, received by Fazil’s family was offered to contract killers in the Suhas Shetty murder case. To a query on whether the Government money was thus misused, he said he did not full details of the case.
“I will meet Home Minister G. Parameshwar and district in charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao to learn the full details before responding,” he said.
He said the State Government was planning a special programme in Vijaya Nagara, to celebrate its achievements in two years.
