All educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and professional colleges, in Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed today, September 26, due to continuous heavy rainfall. The announcement was made by the District Collector, who instructed students to stay indoors and use the time for self-study or other productive activities. Despite the closure, public examinations scheduled for today will be conducted as planned without any changes to the timetable.
According to the forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall measuring between 7 cm and 11 cm in 24 hours is likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala between September 25 and 27. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions in light of the weather conditions.
Leh Schools, Colleges Closed Amid Protests
In Leh district, all schools, colleges, anganwadi centres, and coaching institutions will remain closed for two days from September 26. The order, issued on September 25, applies to both government and private institutions and has been directed to be strictly enforced by the Chief Education Officer and college principals.

The closure comes after violent protests demanding statehood for Ladakh and the extension of constitutional safeguards, including provisions under the Sixth Schedule, to protect tribal communities.
The agitation turned violent on September 24, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving over 80 injured, including police personnel. The unrest also caused widespread damage, with government buildings and vehicles set ablaze during the clashes.
