The KSET 2025 exam took place on November 2. Out of 1.34 lakh registered candidates, approximately 1.21 lakh appeared for the test, which covered 33 subjects, including a general paper. The exam was conducted across 316 centres in 11 districts: Bengaluru, Ballari, Belagavi, Davanagere, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, and Vijayapura.
The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is a state-level examination organized by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to determine candidates’ eligibility for the role of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across Karnataka.
The exam is similar to the National Eligibility Test (NET) but is specifically for institutions within Karnataka. It assesses candidates’ teaching and research aptitude in various subjects through two papers: Paper I and Paper II. The first paper is a general paper on teaching and research aptitude, common to all candidates. The second paper is subject-specific, chosen by the candidate.
The exam is typically conducted once a year across multiple centres in different districts of the state. Those who qualify in KSET are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions in Karnataka’s government, aided, and private colleges as per University Grants Commission (UGC) norms.
