KTM is slowly but surely on its path to re-establishing itself as a manufacturer to be reckoned with and its latest warranty programme will come as music to the ears of potential customers. The Austrian marque has announced that all its road-legal machines – MY2025 onwards – will be available with a 4-year warranty as standard.

KTM has a plethora of models under its various model ranges, spanning all the way from 125cc to 1,350cc, under single and twin-cylinder engine configurations. Now, every single road-going model manufactured from MY2025 onwards will be eligible for this new warranty coverage. Previously, most of KTM’s road-going line-up used to come with a 2-year coverage as standard and this new programme doubles that time frame.
This new warranty programme applies to the Bajaj-made sub-400cc single-cylinder machines as well as the bigger, multi-cylinder models manufactured in other parts of the world.
In the not too distant past, KTM’s 790 and 890 twin-cylinder machines were in the limelight owing to some troubling engine reliability issues – specifically pertaining to camshafts that would wear out prematurely. These problems have seemingly been ironed out and this new warranty programme should give added confidence to buyers of all KTM motorcycles.
In fact, this 4-year coverage is tied to the motorcycle itself and not the owner. In theory, that should mean that even if the bike changes hands inside the four-year period, its warranty coverage should stay intact so long as it’s been serviced at an authorised KTM dealer. Do bear in mind that this warranty coverage is only for overseas markets.
It’s going to be a long road ahead for Bajaj-owned KTM to work its way out of the financial woes it has found itself in of late but the Austrian marque seems to be heading in the right direction.
