“Lando, this is Zak from McLaren. Is this the world champion hotline? You did it! You did it! Awesome,” Brown exclaimed.
Norris was overwhelmed with emotion, laughing and crying simultaneously.
“Oh my God, thank you so much. I love you guys. Thanks for everything,” Norris responded before breaking down in tears.

Norris is Britain’s first world champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2020, marking the 13th drivers’ crown for McLaren. The 26-year-old’s achievement comes more than half a century after Emerson Fittipaldi won the British marque’s first drivers’ title in 1974.
A succession of F1 legends followed, including James Hunt (1976), Niki Lauda (1984), Alain Prost (1985, 1986, 1989), Ayrton Senna (1988, 1990, 1991), Mika Hakkinen (1998, 1999), and Hamilton in 2008.
Under the leadership of team principal Andrea Stella and CEO Brown, McLaren secured consecutive constructors’ titles in Singapore last month.
Sunday’s season finale was notable for being the first time the title was decided by a contest involving more than two drivers since a four-way battle in Abu Dhabi in 2010.
