“It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer,” Frimpong said in a statement after putting pen to paper.

Frimpong, who was born in Amsterdam, joined Manchester City’s youth academy at the age of 9, but made the switch to Scottish side Celtic in 2019, and signed with Baye Leverkusen subsequently in the year 2021. He played a crucial role in Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Leverkusen side that clinched their maiden Bundesliga crown in the 2023/24 season.

Liverpool also continue to hold talks with Leverkusen over the possibility of a switch for German midfielder Florian Wirtz, who looks to be on his way out from the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool clinched their 20th top-flight title as they wrapped up the Premier League crown with a couple of weeks to go before the final gameweek in Slot’s debut season. But, had to endure a terrible incident during the trophy parade around the city as a 53-year-old man rammed into dozens of fans celebrating their side’s accomplishment at Water Street on the day following the conclusion of the campaign.
