Cruz Hewitt, the son of 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt, won his debut match at the All England Club on Sunday.
With his father watching from the stands, the 16-year-old easily defeated Russia’s Savva Rybkin 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the boys’ competition.
Cruz, donning a backward cap reminiscent of his father’s signature style, reached the second round of the juniors competition at the Australian Open earlier this year, following a loss in the men’s event qualifying round.
Next, he will face Finnish 11th seed Oskari Paldanius.
Lleyton, who also clinched the 2001 US Open during his illustrious career, remains the last Australian man to win a Grand Slam singles title.
