Maruti Suzuki launched its first-ever pure-electric model, the e Vitara, in February 2026. On the other hand, Tata Motors rolled out the Curvv EV in November 2024. If you are in the market for a midsize electric SUV priced in the neighbourhood of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), which one of these should you seriously consider and why? To keep this comparison fair, we will pit the similarly priced e Vitara Alpha trim with the Curvv EV’s Accomplished+ S.

In comparison, the Tata Curvv EV Accomplished+ S trim offers more modern sequential turn indicators but comes with smaller 17-inch rims. On a side note, while a powered tailgate isn’t offered even on the fully loaded e Vitara, it is available on the top-spec Curvv Empowered+ trim, which is the one above the Accomplished+ S trim mentioned here.

The Maruti EV also gets a multi-colour ambient lighting system, a premium-branded audio rig, ventilated front seats and four USB outlets.
The Curvv EV, however, gains a slightly larger touchscreen, along with full-leatherette upholstery and a two-pane panoramic sunroof that can be opened. Furthermore, Tata’s electric SUV adds the convenience of a cooled glove box and rear sunshades.

The Maruti e Vitara’s safety kit is quite similar to the Curvv EV’s, save for an additional airbag, the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) and Level 2 ADAS. The main use of AVAS is to alert pedestrians and cyclists of the EV’s presence. On the other hand, the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the e Vitara Alpha trim tie in adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, auto-emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning with lane-departure prevention and adaptive high-beam assist.
Aside from lacking ADAS, the Accomplished+ S trim of the Tata Curvv EV also does not get an acoustic warning system or the added benefit of a driver-side knee airbag. However, the Curvv EV does offer hill-descent control that may come in handy when descending steep terrain. One modern safety feature that both these cars lack is a built-in dashcam.
Maruti e Vitara vs Tata Curvv EV: Other features
Other features | Maruti e Vitara Alpha | Tata Curvv EV Accomplished+ S |
Drive modes | Yes (Eco, Normal, Sport) | Yes (Eco, City, Sport) |

Coming to their miscellaneous features, it is the Curvv EV that brings a bit more to the table. While both cars get multiple drive modes and support single-pedal driving, the Tata SUV also offers paddleshifters to control brake regen plus vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functions. The latter can be useful during camping trips or if another EV’s battery pack requires some topping up in an emergency.
Maruti e Vitara vs Tata Curvv EV: Powertrain specifications
Powertrain specifications | Maruti e Vitara Alpha | Tata Curvv EV Accomplished+ S |
Power | 174hp | 167hp |
Torque | 193Nm | 215Nm |
Battery capacity | 61kWh | 55kWh |
Range | 543km | 502km |
AC charging | 9 hrs (10-100 percent) | 7.9 hrs (10-100 percent) |
DC charging | 45 mins (10-80 percent) | 40 mins (10-80 percent) |
The e Vitara’s larger battery affords it slightly more range and a higher peak power figure, but the Curvv EV produces more torque. This also explains the latter’s 0-100kph time of 8.6 seconds, as opposed to the e Vitara’s 9.25 seconds. Furthermore, the Curvv EV’s 55kWh battery pack charges faster, be it via AC or DC.
Conclusion
The fully loaded Alpha trim of the Maruti e Vitara ranges from Rs 19.79 lakh to Rs 20.01 lakh, depending on the paint finish. Meanwhile, the Accomplished+ S trim of the Tata Curvv EV with the larger 55kWh battery pack starts at Rs 19.99 lakh. Notwithstanding its generous features on paper, the Maruti e Vitara has a firm yet unsettled ride with noticeable body movements, along with plenty of wind and tyre noise at higher speeds and an overall compromised rear-occupant and cargo space. Therefore, if you want a stylish midsize electric SUV that combines usable convenience and safety features, the Curvv EV is worth a closer look.
Prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
