Maruti Suzuki has launched the e Vitara at Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom, exclusive of the battery. Customers will have to pay an additional Rs 3.99 per kilometre driven, as the battery is provided on a rental basis. The starting price listed for the e Vitara is that of the 49kWh battery pack in the Delta trim, with bookings open for a sum of Rs 21,000 and deliveries underway. Maruti is yet to reveal the full price list of its first EV, exclusive of the battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental programme. Introductory offers on the e Vitara are available until March 31, 2026.

The carmaker has joined the EV race much later than most rivals. Despite that, it has not yet revealed the full price list of the car that was first showcased over a year ago, nor even BaaS prices for the higher trims or finance partners of the BaaS scheme.

Gets an 8-year warranty on the battery
Maruti is also providing an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery pack and a 3-year warranty on the vehicle. A 5-year extended warranty on the vehicle can be availed at an additional cost. The e Vitara is also available with an assured buyback plan, with 60 percent buyback value on the 3-year/45,000km plan and 50 percent buyback value on the 4-year/60,000km plan. The carmaker is offering a complimentary 7.4kW AC charger with free installation. Owners can also avail free charging for 1,000 units or one year (whichever is earlier) via chargers at Maruti Suzuki dealerships accessible through the ‘e for me’ app.

Comes with two battery pack options, FWD setup
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is available with a choice of two battery packs: the 49kWh variant with a front-mounted motor producing 144hp and an ARAI-rated range of 440km and the 61kWh version with 174hp and 543km range. Both have the same torque output of 189Nm and come with a FWD layout as standard. The e Vitara is sold in three trims, namely Delta, Zeta and Alpha. While the Delta trim is exclusively sold with the 49kWh battery pack version, the Zeta and Alpha trims are for the 61kWh variants.
Maruti claims that a top-up from 10 to 80 percent using a 7.4kW charger takes 6.5 hours for the 49kWh variant and 9 hours for the 61kWh battery pack version. The same can be achieved in 45 minutes when using a fast DC charger with support for speeds of up to 70kW.

The SUV has a muscular look overall
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara takes inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki eVX concept revealed at the Auto Expo 2023. The front gets all-LED headlamps and thick cladding for the bumper, and the grille has shutters that open and close to cool the battery when needed.
Moving to the side profile, the e Vitara has muscular protrusions and aero-optimised 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets a spoiler, LED tail-lamps connected by a transparent bar, chunky cladding for the bumper, and the Suzuki emblem and e Vitara branding at the centre of the tailgate.

Gets a unique asymmetrical interior and ADAS tech
The e Vitara has a dual-tone brown-and-black interior with soft-touch inserts. There’s a flat-bottom steering wheel, and the offset placement of the digital driver display and infotainment screens gives it an asymmetrical look. The higher-set centre console comes with a shift-by-wire gearshift.
As for features, the e Vitara comes with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Infinity sound system, a wireless charging pad, a fixed glass sunroof, ambient lighting, drive modes, ventilated seats at the front, a 10-way powered driver’s seat, sliding and reclining rear seats and connected car tech.
The safety features in the e Vitara include 7 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Level 2 ADAS and an electronic parking brake. The EV has also received a 5-star crash safety rating from BNCAP.
The e Vitara rivals models such as the Toyota Ebella, Hyundai Creta Electric, Vinast VF6, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV.
