MG has unveiled the Majestor as its new flagship SUV. Based on the Gloster, it features a revised exterior, an updated cabin layout, and additional premium features, though it retains the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. The Majestor will be positioned above the Gloster as a more premium offering. We take a closer look at how it compares to the Gloster by highlighting both their key differences and similarities.

Compared to the Gloster, the Majestor gets a more rugged-looking front end. It features a split headlamp design with LED DRLs and vertically stacked LED headlamps mounted on the sides of the bumper, in contrast to the Gloster’s conventional and urbane looks. Vertical DRLs are also integrated within the Majestors grille, which is studded with rectangular elements and chrome accents. Lower down, the front bumper gets thick cladding details. While the Gloster had a lot of chrome elements at the front, the Majestor gets blacked-out detailing for the most part.

The side profile remains largely similar to the Gloster’s, but the Majestor gains a new design for its 19-inch alloy wheels, and black treatment for the wheel arches and side sills.

At the rear, the redesigned LED taillamps now feature a connected light bar, the MG logo on the Majestor is replaced by ‘Morris Garages’ lettering, and the rear bumper receives additional cladding. Additionally, the Majestor features dual-tipped exhausts in comparison to the quad-tipped exhaust on the Gloster. Dimension-wise, the Majestor is over 5 metres long and is slightly larger than the Gloster in width and height, though it shares an identical wheelbase.

New additions include an updated 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. A-pillar-mounted and centre console-mounted grab handles are also present. The gear lever, earlier mounted on the centre console, has now moved to the steering column. The Majestor also carries over six and seven-seater layout options like the Gloster.

It produces 215 hp and 478 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It is available in either 4×2 or 4×4 drive layouts. The Gloster, however, comes with an additional 2.0-litre turbo diesel on its lower variants, delivering 161hp and 374Nm of torque.
