MP Mahua Moitra adorned herself with a Raw Mango sari as she got married to lawyer and MP Pinaki Misra at a quiet and private ceremony in Berlin, Germany. The couple celebrated with their close family and friends.
The bride wore a custom sari, which was drawn from textile archives, an ongoing revival project by Raw Mango founder Sanjay Garg. Two weavers worked on it for 45 days after Mahua Moitra chose the shade and tonality with the designer.
“The ‘Parigul’ pale pink Varanasi silk brocade sari is woven with real zari. It is made using the elaborate Kadwa technique in a ‘jangla’ pattern, where each motif is woven separately utilizing an extra weft insertion and the reverse of the textile reveals the absence of thread floats. It features the play of rani pink Meenakari on the trellis of flowers, inspired by printed textiles such as kalamkari chintz depicting flora and fauna. She pairs it with a pale pink ‘Gulshera’ blouse in silk satin, which is gathered at the shoulders and the bust,” the designer said in a press release.

The groom wore a custom quilted bundi, realised in pale pink handwoven silk.
Mahua Moitra has always promoted native weaves through her choice of saris.
