The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has issued a fresh recruitment notification for Assistant Professor posts in higher education institutions across the state. The new recruitment drive offers a significant opportunity for candidates aspiring to build a career in teaching.
The recruitment covers a wide range of subjects and categories. Interested applicants can apply online through the official MPPSC website at mppsc.mp.gov.in once the application window opens.
The recruitment notice was released on December 31, 2025. As per the schedule, online applications will start from February 27, 2026. Candidates will have time until March 26, 2026, to submit their forms.
MPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Subject-wise Vacancy Distribution
A total of 949 Assistant Professor posts have been announced across Arts, Commerce, Social Science, and Science streams. Some subjects have a higher number of openings than others.
Chemistry has the highest number of posts with 160 vacancies, followed by Physics with 145 posts. Commerce has 94 openings, while Economics has 84. History and Geography have 77 and 74 vacancies, respectively. Hindi and English account for 57 and 56 posts.
Other subjects included in the recruitment are Political Science with 62 vacancies, Sociology with 49 posts, Psychology with 18 vacancies, Law with 29 posts, Geology with 8 vacancies, Sanskrit with 34 posts, and Yogic Science with 2 vacancies.
Vacancies are spread across General, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories as per state reservation rules.
MPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria
– To apply, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 per cent marks or an equal grade from a recognised university.
– Applicants must also have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or ICAR, or a state-level SET or SLET exam.
– As per UGC norms, candidates who hold a PhD degree are not required to qualify for NET, SET, or SLET. All degrees must be from recognised institutions in India or abroad.
– The minimum age to apply is 21 years, while the maximum age limit is 40 years. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories according to the Madhya Pradesh government rules.

Candidates must apply through the official MPPSC website within the given dates. It is important to note that incomplete or incorrect applications may be rejected.
