Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has said that she was shocked but also honoured when a female fan asked her to autograph on her chest so that she could tattoo it. Osaka enjoyed a decent run at the Indian Wells Masters, reaching the fourth round before falling to the eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka.
During a fan interaction at the Indian Wells Open, Osaka encountered a woman who asked her to sign her chest so she could later turn the autograph into a tattoo. Osaka later shared a video of the moment on her Instagram Stories.
“First time getting this request. I was so in shock and honoured. Very grateful for all the love ❤️, thank you,” Osaka said.
Seeded No. 16 in the women’s singles main draw at the Indian Wells Open, Osaka received a first-round bye before beating Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva and Camila Osorio in the second and third rounds.
Meanwhile, Sabalenka took a swipe at Osaka after beating her at the Indian Wells Open, commenting on Osaka’s decision to join IMG after leaving Evolve, the talent agency she co-founded.
“I just feel sorry for her (Osaka) that she moved from Evolve back to IMG. I don’t think that is a smart decision to make. I am happy, I am super happy that all the time that they were kind of like, how you say, balancing between Naomi and me,” Sabalenka said.
“Was she laughing when she said it? Look, we are two different people, like, for sure. I think her experiences are not the same as mine and I would not have it any other way, you know,” Osaka replied.
Sabalenka powered into the Indian Wells quarter-finals on Tuesday with a statement 6-2, 6-4 win against Osaka in a battle of Grand Slam winners.
