New Mercedes GLC EV Revealed With 713km WLTP Range

The GLC EV sits on Mercedes’ new 800V-compatible MB.EA platform. The GLC300+ uses a single motor with 369hp and 504Nm of torque. The dual-motor GLC400 makes 483hp and 808Nm. Both are limited to 210kph. Each version has a 94kWh battery and supports DC fast charging up to 330kW. Thanks to an integrated DC converter, it works with both 800V and 400V chargers. Mercedes says charging from 10-80 percent takes about 24 minutes, or you can add roughly 241km in 10 minutes.

On the WLTP cycle, the GLC EV can go up to 700km on a charge. In markets like the US, it’ll launch with two versions: the rear-wheel-drive GLC300+ and the all-wheel-drive GLC400 4Matic.

The most noticeable exterior feature of the GLC EV is its massive grille, with 942 backlit dots flanking the illuminated three-pointed star in the centre. The headlights feature star-shaped running lights, while the taillight bar uses tiny star-shaped LEDs, like the GT XX concept. Chrome accents are everywhere, and a subtle roof spoiler helps with aerodynamics while balancing the sloping roofline. Mercedes claims a drag coefficient of 0.26. Wheels go up to 21 inches, though 20s are standard. Bigger wheels look great but may cut into range.

The highlight inside being the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen – the largest display Mercedes has ever put in a car. It stretches across the whole dashboard, combining the gauge cluster, infotainment, and passenger screen into one. The infotainment system is a newer version of MBUX, with cleaner menus, sharper graphics, and even a built-in AI assistant.

Still, the GLC EV isn’t just about screens. Mercedes has brought back physical buttons and knobs for the steering wheel and center console, ditching the touch-sensitive controls.
