The boxy and upright stance of the XBEE is quite reminiscent of the Maruti S-Presso that’s sold in India, although the XBEE is about 200mm longer than the S-Presso. The 2025 update brings new round headlamps, a new grille with silver garnishes, and chunkier cladding for the lower section of the body. It also gets new dual-tone paint work and a smart set of new alloy wheels that lend it a slightly more premium appeal from before.

On the inside, the XBEE gets a new steering wheel, similar to the one seen on the Victoris in India, and a new digital instrument cluster, too. There’s new switchgear on the centre console, which is again familiar from newer Marutis in India, the gear lever console has a floating design and the high-set infotainment screen is similar to the Jimny. Despite being a compact model, the XBEE is packaged to maximise space and comes with clever storage spaces all around the cabin.

Suzuki XBEE platform and engine

The Suzuki XBEE is based on the brand’s Heartect platform. The pre-facelift version was powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, but this 2025 update swaps that out with the mild-hybrid 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. In Japan, it only comes mated to a CVT gearbox, driving the front wheels.

The XBEE is exclusively sold in the Japan domestic market, and Suzuki has no plans of bringing this to India. However, if brought here, it could be a potential rival to the likes of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter
